The founding idea of NARS, 1976
Our history
NARS was founded in 1976 by a group of nurses and nurse leaders. Not everyone welcomed the idea. Some in influential positions saw an association as a threat to the status quo. The founders kept going, consulted nurses from every field, drafted a constitution, and registered the association on 31 May 1977.
Fifty years on, the association they built still speaks for the profession.
